Firstly tell us more about…

Who and what is Pretty Social Beings?
Pretty Social Beings is a social media marketing and content creation company, which was started at the end of 2018. I focus on small businesses that do not understand the technicalities behind social media, or simply do not have the time to maintain their social media presence. For now, it is just me, but there are some exciting things happening and in the next couple of months I will be looking to get someone on board to assist me.

What motivates you to continue your hustle?
To be successful and to prove to myself that I can do this. I come from a family of entrepreneurs so I am very blessed to have the support and inspiration behind me to continuously push myself to get better and be better.

What is the most difficult part of your hustle?
Doing this all on my own is never easy whilst trying to maintain a balance in my own life, but being able to wake up and remind myself of where I am going, it makes it all worth it.

If you could go back in time, what advice would you give to yourself when you first started hustling?
Trust the process.

What can’t you live without??
Coffee. No joke. I cannot function unless I have had a cup of coffee first thing in the morning. Those who know me well do their best to avoid eye contact with me until I’ve had coffee.

In your opinion what is the most important part of your company?
Being a small business myself, I understand my clients and their needs. Small businesses and brands do not have the financial means to hire a big PR or marketing agency to assist them and that’s where Pretty Social Beings comes in. I give a voice to the underdogs and work alongside them to see their vision come to life.

In one word describe your work personality?
Tireless.

What are some of the struggles you have faced over the years?
Confidence within myself and within my capabilities. By not having this confidence, I was never able to commit to something and see it through.

What successes have you achieved over the years?
I’m most proud of the woman I have become. Successes I am proud of though would include competing for my school for tennis, horse riding and swimming throughout my years at school, completing the Midmar Mile, getting two qualifications under my belt at my dream university, getting my first aid certifications, as well as completing certifications in pilates instruction, sports nutrition and kinesiology taping. Starting my business has been my greatest success story to date, and I cannot wait to see where it goes with time.

Who motivates you?
To be honest with you, I am lucky enough to have a few people in my life that motivate me in their own, unique way. I am motivated and inspired by people for various reasons and feel very blessed to have more than one person to look up to each day. I believe you need to surround yourself with motivational people to keep yourself motivated, healthy and driven.

What advice can you give young vibrant South African females that want to start a business?
If you have an idea and a vision that you believe in, then go for it. I think we are in a very exciting time where the possibilities for success are endless. Do your research, get a good support structure behind you, and start creating small goals to work towards. I promise you that it will be worth it in the end.
